Biochem/physiol Actions :
“Quinaldine Red” (2-(p-Dimethylaminostyryl) quinoline ethiodide) is a powder that is a very dark red that is almost black. Its main uses are in the fields of controlling cell growth, diagnosing diseases linked to amyloid, measuring enzyme activity, and bleaching teeth. Also, quinaldine red has been linked to the treatment of both allodynia and viral infections. At pH 1.4, it has no colour, but at pH 3.2, it turns a bright red.
